Bhumi Amla, is a liver rasayana. It helps to remove the imbalances and reverse aging in the liver which provides a cooling benefit to the whole body. Bhumi Amla is astringent and has cold thermogenic properties, along with light and drying properties. These properties, which can be good for pitta, might cause an imbalance with vata. The body might not be able to digest this herb without liver strength, and it might also create a strong detox reaction. It is important to consult with an Ayurvedic health practitioner before and during use of this herb.
Bhumi Amla, in crude form, can be very hard to digest. If the stomach cannot digest it, it will not have any benefits. If the liver is not able to metabolize Bhumi Amla, it will clog channels instead of eliminating toxins.
Additionally, if there are too many toxins in the liver, these toxins can be dumped into the intestines creating an overload on the colon and kidneys.
